Yamanoo Hotel - Kanazawa

the weather was a bit chilly 🥶, but the unique experience of a private onsen was incredible. the hospitality was genuine! every meal was a work of art, and the beautiful setting amidst traditional gardens made our stay unforgettable!

Soft beds and central heating, a private safe, and multi-channel television. Amazing bathrooms with bathtubs. Best possible and marvellous location next to Yamanoo, the hill straight down the center of the best street in the district and Kanazawa, only 5 minutes walk from Asanogawa Ohashi Bridge...

Wanted to explore Kanazawa and this hotel was fabulous base for doing it. Booked a room with the private bathtub. The staff members were nice;))

The dinner was a mess, but the atmosphere was enchanting and unique.

The Daffodil room provided a private and comfortable experience, complete with a hinoki cedar bathtub and a lovely tea set. The culinary journey was amazing. Dinner featured dishes like Nodoguro cooked at our table and exquisite seasonal ingredients. Breakfast offered a good spread of 15 unique dishes, ensuring a luxurious start to the day.

No significant drawbacks were encountered .

Staying at Yamanoo was a delight. The Daffodil room provided very nice privacy with its own entrance and a charming garden walk. Greeted with matcha and sweets, I immediately felt welcomed. The hinoki cedar bathtub was a fantastic spot for relaxation after exploring. The highlight was the dinner. Each course was a beautiful presentation of local flavors, especially the nodoguro prepared at our table, a unique touch. Breakfast stunned me with 15 different dishes, all fresh and full of flavor. My dinner experience wasn't without issues. Some dishes seemed overly elaborate and not to my taste, like a shrimp ball in pea soup that lacked seasoning. Despite a couple of culinary missteps, the staff was attentive and worked hard to create a nice environment. The location was fantastic, close to the Higashi Chaya district and within walking distance to Kanazawa Castle. A great experience marred slightly by some dinner choices.

The dinner experience featured dishes that might not suit Western tastes, and breakfast was an overwhelming spread of 15 items, best for those who can handle a substantial morning meal. Lugging our bags during heavy rain caused a bit of inconvenience, as we had to manage without bellboy assistance early in the morning.

The location was fantastic, with a fine view of the historic Higashi Chaya district. Our family loved the detached bungalow, perfect for privacy and relaxation. The hinoki cedar bathtub was a cozy way to unwind after a day of exploring with our baby.

My children wished for more kid-friendly meal options.

Everything was flawless.

Very nice experience with warm hospitality from the staff. The view from our room was fine, and the tatami mats added a perfect touch to the ambiance. Dinner and breakfast were superb, showcasing local ingredients beautifully 🍣🌸

Each meal showcased local ingredients, especially the expertly prepared kaiseki dinner. Some dishes felt overly intricate, and a few lacked seasoning, detracting slightly from the dining experience. While the staff were attentive, the overall atmosphere felt a bit formal, which might not suit every guest's preference.

The warm hospitality, and the private onsen offered heavenly relaxation with a view of the lovely garden. Each carefully crafted dish in the kaiseki dinner transported me to a culinary paradise.

I can't think of anything negative.

we loved our stay in a cozy Japanese-style room with beautiful views, and the hotel's location made it super convenient to visit nearby attractions like the amazing 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art just a short walk away and the expansive Kanazawa Castle Park, perfect for a leisurely stroll after a day of sightseeing.

This place was a great match for a brief stopover in Kanazawa with good value for cost. I loved relaxing in the hinoki cedar bathtub after a long day. It felt so refreshing. Make sure to try the local sake during your stay.

The rooms here are really spacious and come with those super comfy feather pillows. The bed is nice and big, and it's great to have a safe box, TV, and fridge in the room as an added bonus. 🛏️
